13 May 1816 At a vestry meeting holden at the Parish Church of Longhope in the County of Gloucestershire it was then an there agreed to assess and levy a rate for the use of the poor of the said parish at 6d in the pound. As witness our hands the day and year above written.

In 1844, Aug 22 the Parish of Longhope distributed frocks, shirts and chemise to the poor of the parish including H Sterry, J L Sterry and Thos Sterry
In 1849, 1852 and 1853 John Sterry received one or more 'frocks of 4 yards each'.
In March 1853 John Sterry jnr apparently received a frock or frocks.
At Xmas 1855 John Sterry senr and John Sterry jnr apparently received a frock or frocks.
At Xmas 1856, 1857, 1858, 1859, 1860, 1863 and 1868 John Sterry snr apparently received a coat or frock.
At Xmas 1859, 1861 & 1865 John Sterry jnr received a frock or coat.
At Xmas 1858 and 1859 Elizabeth Sterry apparently received a frock or frocks.
On Jan 9, 1860 S D Sterry was paid £2 for installing a new light in the belfry.
On April 10th 1860, Charles Sterry was present as member of vestry meeting.
On Mar 31, 1861 S D Sterry repaired a church window.
At Xmas 1862 John Sterry senr apparently received a frock or frocks and Elizabeth Sterry, a garment of some sort.
In 1862, 1867 and 1871 Charles Sterry was present at vestry meeting as Assistant Overseer.
At Xmas 1864 and 1866 John Sterry senr and junr apparently received a frock or frocks
In 1865, 1866 and 1869 among the excused persons (from paying poor rate) is John Sterry for one pound 10 pence halfpenny.
In 1868 Charles Sterry is named as Assessor of Taxes for lower division with John Kersey. (Also in 1869-1883 and 1887-1889).
On Mar 29 1868 J Sterrey was given floor flannel, brush, soap and soda for cleaning windows.
In 1871 George Sterry was given a frock for Xmas.
In 1871 Nov 18th George Sterry received 9/- for hauling 1 ton of coal.
O n March 19th 1872 C Sterry received 4/- for hauling.
In 1872 John Sterry jun received a frock.
In 1872 Mar 25 & 1875 George Sterry was on excused list.
In 1874, 1875, 1876 and 1877 George Sterry was given a frock and a coat in 1893.
In 1876 and 1884 a John Sterry was given a frock or coat and John Sterrey in 1880 and 1886.
In 1878 a C Sterry was paid for hauling 6 bags of fuel.
In 1878 a Sterry Widow was given 3 yds of calico.
In 1880 Thomas Sterry was given a frock.
In 1880 a James Sterry criple was given a frock or coat.
In 1887, 1888 and 1894 a James Sterrey was given a frock or coat and linen in 1885 and 1886 and 1889 and 1890 and 1891.
In 1881 Ann Sterry was on excused list but exclused in 1882 because freeholders were no longer excused.
In 1881 Charles Sterry received between £3 and £4 per annum for collecting the rate. In 1882 Charles was reappointed collector, "subject to a bond, which appears to be required by law. His salary is to be the same but it is absolutely required that rates were more punctually collected ... that when the Parish officer required money to carry out their duties, it shall be forthcoming ..." Authorised to take steps with those who won't pay their rates.
In 1882 Thomas Sterry and James Sterrey were given 3 yards of linen.
In 1883 and 1887 Thomas W Sterry was given 3 yards of linen.
In 1884 Apr 12 a Sterrey carrier from Gloucester was paid 1/6 for hauling.
In 1884 Thomas Sterry (widow?) was given linen.
In 1884, 1885 & 1886 Charles Sterry was present at the meeting.
In 1887 Charles was reappointed as assistant overseer, salary £18 per annum to assist churchwardens, overseers with the poor rate, to collect poor rate, assist in keeping the books, attend meetings of Guardians of the poor, to carry out all duties given by poor law board and the overseers of the parish.
In 1888 Ann Sterry was in arrears.
In 1888 (widow?) and 1890 and 1891 and 1892 (twice) and 1895 Ann Sterry was given linen.
In 1889 and 1894 Ann Sterrey was given linen.
In 1889 Charles Sterry reappointed collector with salary as hitherto, viz £2 per each rate.
In 1890 Charles Sterry reappointed, same salary but not to be paid until each rate is completed.
In 1891, 1892, 1893 Charles Sterry continued.
In 1891 and 1892 George Sterry was given linen and George Sterrey in 1895.
In 1892 and 1893 Emily Sterry was given linen.
In 1893 Nov 1 Henry F Sterrey donated £5 for '1 nd noiety' apprenticeship and the same for '2 nd noiety' in 1895.
In 1894 V Sterrey was given linen.
In 1895 F Sterry's children were given linen.
In 1895 Eli Stery was given linen.
In 1895 a note that there will be no more vestry minutes as a parish council was now responsible for their duties.
